The Fox and the Crane

There was a fox. He invited a crane to dinner. But he wanted to make a fool of his guest. He put some soup into a flat dish. The he sat down  beside the crane. It was impossible for the crane to eat anything. So he felt greatly ashamed. He left the place without a word. But he made up his mind to take revenge. After a few days, he invited the fox to dinner. He boiled some rice. He put the same in a narrow-necked jar. Then he placed it in front of his guest and sat down beside him. The fox was unable to eat anything. But the crane finished up everything. The fox only kept looking at him. When he returned home, he was much wiser than before.

Moral: Tit for tat.

Difficult words and their meanings:

(Crane = a large bird with long legs and a long neck) (Make a fool of somebody = to say or do something deliberately so that people will think that somebody is stupid.) (Beside = next to or at the side of somebody/something) (Ashamed = feeling shame or embarrassment) (Make up your mind = to decide something.) (Revenge = something that you do in order to make somebody suffer because they has made you suffer.) (Finish up something = to eat or drink all of what you are eating or drinking.)

Cheers!
